Wow, missed reading yesterday due to guests coming and needing to be in the kitchen preparing a meal, which was very relaxing for me. So now you've given me some big words to think about, or not, and reminded me about how I haven't looked at my Mitchel Tao Te Ching in a while. Peace, my friend.
My very favorite translation of the Tao Te Ching with excellent commentary is by Ellen M. Chen. I have studied maybe 20 translations over the years and this one was great.
I like vipassana meditation. I took one of those 10 day retreats in Mexico some years ago and I thought the technique was pretty genius. Just observing breathing and quieting the mind. It was interesting to notice how long it took for the mind to calm down from the rhythm of urban life. It was three days. I should do that again. I have not been on a retreat in some time. I kind of feel like I am always on retreat in my studio but it would be fun just to go totally silent for a week or so.
I’ll check that out. Thank you.
