Through your recent posts, you've inspired me to create a collage to represent music I've been listening to.

I posted "DJ Set" on Notes just now. Thanks for the ideas and the inspiration!

Back when I was a professional artist (that is showing and selling my work in the gallery) I always listened to music as I created art. But since I've started up again a few yrs ago after a long hiatus I don't listen any more while working in the studio. It's just an observation to me since reading your articles about the subject of the direct connection of music and your art. For me I guess it wouldn't really work with assemblage that I do......mainly, I used to listen to music just to keep me in a more positive mood back then.

I guess the idea or principle of musicality could work with assemblage as well as with any other medium. It is really about how you manage or curate the viewer's experience with the work understanding that we all experience even a still object over time and with a three dimensional object, also from different vantage points. that could be played with. It is really the intention of how to manage that experience that an artist can think about. as opposed, let's say, to a narrative or something.

Yes, that makes sense. But I guess for me, music has been mainly something just for my ears and heart and it works as therapy in a way and can either change or match a mood and I just keep it separate from my experience with making art.......I listen mainly to music in my car and while I'm on the desktop at times. Otherwise, I really like the silence of the studio......where I hear my breath or cuss out loud sometimes, or really like the ASMR of various physical things I'm doing to a piece. But it's also good to know that all types of music can affect one when doing art whether it is Jazz, Classical, Rock, Rap and all the other many genres (I wonder what Country Music would look like in one of your collages/paintings...........hahaha).
