One night long ago.
Waiting, she sang.
Round and round slow.
Waited, waiting,
ear waiting to wait.
[On] only her he waited.
Serene, speeding, sustained,
spin it out too long.
Time makes the tune.
Before just now.
Playing it slow,
Slower,
Too slow,
halt.
Speech paused.
Stave it off awhile.
He waits while you wait.
wait while they wait. But wait.
Wisdom while you wait
urged the lingering.
All lost now.
Too late.

Wait, wait.
No, now,
this time
Clock whirred
speeding
quickly.
Quick.
In haste
now!
What time is that?
A little time.
an instant.

Delayed
waited
slow
Half time,
slow moving,
before
came slow,
this hour
better than last time.
Clock clacked.
Let’s hear the time.
